life update

hey :) it’s been a minute. life has been happening, you know how it goes. what i thought would be a relaxing summer has turned into a hectic summer and i’ve been loving every minute of it… even though it’s a constant blur and i’m unable to process what happened until months after it happens. (hence this extremely delayed update)

i was in europe alone for two and a half weeks in june, writing new music and being a semi-tourist with my few days off. i wrote for a week in stockholm and then a week in london. i love getting out of my own continent and collaborating with new people. i think as i’ve gotten older i am more and more grateful that i get to just ‘exist’ and ‘write’ as a portion of my job. it feels very earned, like i put in my hours and now i can zoom out and appreciate it  more as it’s happening.

i was in stockholm right before midsommar which falls during the longest days of the year there, which means the sun doesn’t really set. an absolute mindfuck, and some beautiful 10:45pm golden hour moments were witnessed. london was next up and it was during a heatwave… but i luckily swapped my airbnb last minute for a room with AC, the studio also had AC thank god. a few pub nights watching world cup in a sweaty room is manageable if you can fall asleep in AC afterwards.

while consuming triangle sandwiches from prêt almost daily, i realized i really missed the UK culture from my days of doing a uni semester abroad in Glasgow when i was 20 years old. i think the british sense of humour gels quite well with my canadian sarcasm and self-deprecation so we all got on great in the sessions. my workflow went like this while hanging out in london: wake up, go for a run, head to a coffee shop and make two chord progressions for the days session, write in the studio from 12-6pm, head to a cozy pub and comp the vocal with a pint, grab some dinner, rinse, repeat. i really loved it.

once i got home i got back into playing shows, it feels weird but even after a month off you start to feel rusty? crazy how quick that feeling sets in. i did a show for FIFA in my hometown, rose disco’s in both kelowna and vancouver. we did a boat pop up in kelowna (vid coming soon). we did a set on a floating sauna (vid coming soon). i played a coffee party with Nespresso. i did a festival in Baie-St-Paul and they gave me a really nice charcuterie board backstage. (how french!)

next up we are doing rose disco in 3 more cities: Calgary, Toronto and Winnipeg. i also have some other tour dates in edmonton, brooklyn and nashville. i hope to see you there!

AND finally, i have a new sunset mix coming out on friday that i made for The Way. drop a sunset emoji on this post if you want it.

thank you for reading.
