bullying you into dancing
someone came to my show in san francisco yesterday and brought their friend who had never heard my music before, he said “my friend forced me to come and i’m so glad i did. i’m a new fan.” i loved this and joked “bullying people into listening to my music is my favourite type of marketing.” reminds me of this simpsons ‘superliminal’ joke.
so i am now heading into the last 2 shows of my tour, stopping in Miami and Victoria. touring as a DJ is always a bit unconventional, i’ll often come home in between weekend stops, semi-adjust to a normal schedule, and then before i know it, i’m on a plane again. the travel lifestyle can bog me down at times but is balanced out by excitement and inspiration. traveling to different places is never not interesting to say the least. i’m grateful that after 18 years of doing this, i still challenge myself by creating new music, trying to push boundaries, and learning new ways to think about performing and DJ’ing. I believe i’m a student for life and am grateful for fans that are welcoming of these different eras, sounds, and ideas. that for me has always been the goal of doing this, find what excites me and throw myself into it.
thank you for dancing and FYI… we’re just getting started, i have a slew of summer dates coming up, including a free party for FIFA in Vancouver (july 4), which i’m so happy to be a part of. going to try my very best to represent our country!
