pop up summer
i missed posting last week. i’m sorry. i’ve been busy! (in a good way.) last weekend in vancouver we attempted the trilogy of beach pop ups. year 3, bigger and better than ever before. unfortunately, the location got shut down before we even started. so… we pivoted, new location, sunset beach. and you all still came. i couldn’t believe it. in a way this energy was even more like the first pop up, a very rag-tag impromptu show in a parking lot… except this time with thousands of people. mind blown.
this weekend i was in kelowna and we did a boat tie-up. a pop up on the lake. again to my disbelief, y’all showed up, finding boats to come out, and we partied in the middle of the water. i’m so grateful.
there’s this community aspect to these that i feel like we’ve tapped into. i love talking to you after these, and hear about why they’ve been special to you, because they’re special to me to. i guess i sort of had this a-ha moment through doing these that life should be fun, unpredictable, especially when my job is making music. i’ve been trying to lean into that more. i couldn’t do any of this without kyle, my pop up collaborator, who helps finagle all the impossible details up to, during, and after each event. i feel extremely fulfilled by this collaboration with a creative partner, and also the community we’ve built with any of you who have attended. this shit is fucking special and not lost on me!! thank you.
THINGS have been so busy i’ve barely talked about my new song that also came out. Mouth of Madness dropped on friday, we shot a music video at a ranch. this song is very dear to me as it’s my fifth collaboration with Ofelia K, who i’ve been working with over the course of 13 years now. i’ve had some nice messages about how people have been listening to our work since New Scene, which is wild, and also Fakin It, which we did with Kaskade. add to your playlist if you’re feeling it <3
