miami and such

i’m currently sitting on the plane flying home to vancouver from miami. i’ve skipped miami music week the last few years what with the pandemic and also some years it just not seeming worth it… so it was good to be back. i think it’s probably my 8 or 9th time, which seems wild in retrospect. it’s a good mix of people, some people who are trying to re-create the “glory days” whatever that means, and most who just kinda adapt and roll with the ebbs and flows of the industry. i’m always a fan of those in the latter camp as the former feels a bit like…

dj vu

just did two nights in edmonton. first night as felix cartal, 2nd night as glass petals. it was very cool to see the vision of both projects co-existing finally come to life. i dreamt this as a possibility around 2018 when i started Glass Petals. i guess things always take a bit longer than expected, although i’m giving myself a pass on account of the global pandemic that slowed things a bit. the stage setup in edmonton was…

2 Shows 1 Club

I kicked off my tour this weekend in Denver with 2 shows. Both were at Larimer Lounge. Friday and Saturday. It’s pretty rare for me to have back to back nights in the same city, it was a nice change. There’s something enjoyable about being able to unpack your suitcase in the hotel room, hang your shirts up, no worries about leaving early the next day. Night 1 at Larimer Lounge was in the main room. It was packed and I really liked it. It felt like a dive bar with….

I Played (Escaped) Burning Man

I’m on a plane back to Vancouver, and managed to get out of Burning Man Sunday afternoon. It’s a bit wild to see all the mainstream news outlets covering something you were just at. It’s a rare vantage point to see something sensationalized but have full insider info of the event yourself. So it’s a bit of a long post this week but here’s how my trip went down…
