perspective and style

reworking a song from a few years ago made something click: the value in what we make comes from our perspective, not the tools. in more conversational terms, “i think these sounds are cool when put together in this particular way.” fashion is the same. graphic design. writing. films. it’s all about showing your vision in a way that you deem cool. it’s fine to be influenced by other artists that you like, but don’t forget to show your perspective on those inspirations. otherwise it’s just imitating.
